What is it? How does it work?

Video Counselling

Video counselling is the practice of using the internet and live, interactive video phone to meet and talk with a counselling practitioner. It allows you both to be in different cities or countries, and to see and hear each other using the internet and a computer with microphone and web camera. As well as being convenient, recent research has found online counselling therapy can be an effective and viable alternative to meeting a practitioner face to face.

Please note that remote, video counselling and online therapy is considered not suitable for people with severe and chronic psychiatric illnesses. If you are unsure check with your local medical practitioner.
What do I need?

There are many video phone applications available. Some popular ones include: Skype, Facetime, Google Hangouts, Gruveo, and iChat (for Mac os). Each one has its advantages and unique features. Currently we use Skype and Gruveo, as they provide a reliable and quality service.
